Before you leave the country, our consultants will ensure that you have all the necessary documentation in order so you can literally start work the next day after you arrive. There are a few things that you will need to do starting about 6 months before you travel and we have identified the main ones below.

Requirements to Work in the UK:

  • Registration--- Registration with the General Social Care Council (GSCC) is essential to work as a social worker in the UK.
  • 12 months post graduate experience
  • Visa —The majority of Australians and New Zealanders will need a visa to allow them to work in the UK. There are several types of visas including a Youth Mobility Visa, which allows you to work for 2 years, and an ancestry visa which provides a 5 year work visa if you have a grandparent born in the UK. General Social Care Council Registration in the UK

To register with the GSCC can take more than 16 weeks from their receipt of your application, so you're advised to apply for GSCC registration early.

The registration fee in non refundable and has to be paid by cheque or bank draft in GBP Sterling.
