REF: 2000094 Locum Physiotherapy job in Broken Hill, New South Wales.

A position is available for a Senior Physiotherapist to work as a locum with an option of a permanen placement after 3-6 months. Accommodation and travel will be provided for the first 3 months.

Duties
.Provide appropriate assessment and treatment of generalist patients referred for physiotherapy with the use of skill, initiative and judgement in carrying out such treatment.

*Maintain personal standards of clinical practise by education and review.

*Give direction of duties to physiotherapy assistants and students.

*Assess effectiveness of treatment and modify as required.

*Instruct patients and carers in physiotherapy management of patients' problems where appropriate.

*Take all reasonable care for health, safety and welfare of patients and staff.

*Ensure all equipment is used correctly and well maintained.

*Provide suitable educational input in form of health promotion activities and prevention of injuries.

*Provide Manager Physiotherapy with appropriate and timely advice on all matters relating to your area.

*Provide effective communication in department by attending regular staff meetings.

*Liase with medical, nursing and other allied health staff regarding physiotherapy management, treatment and progress of patients under their care. To attend such ward meetings and ward rounds as necessary to accomplish this end.

*Provide assistance and guidance to staff in treatment of complex patients.

*Represent the department at relevant meetings, committees and organisations.

*Maintain personal education and development in order to keep knowledge and skills proficient.

*Promote and participate in the professional development of the department in in-services, seminars, workshops, conferences and Quality Management programs.

*Promote role of physiotherapy in the provision of high quality service.

*Identify priorities, develop strategies and action measures to monitor outputs of the outpatient department.

*Assign work to staff in outpatients in regard to such variables as workload and employee experience and training requirements.

*Participate in the selection of staff in accordance with staff selection procedures.

*Weekend and Public Holiday work as required.

*Abide by all Policies and Procedures of the Broken Hill Health Service and resolutions of Board of Directors Greater Western Area Health Service .

*Uphold and abide by the ethics and values of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

*Abide by Codes of Conduct set by the Physiotherapists Registration Board and NSW Department of Health.

*Maintain complete and accurate notes and other documentation in client/patient records.

*Be familiar with and undertake responsibilities regarding children, young people and their families in accordance with the GWAHS Child Protection Manual and seek training, support and supervision as required.

*Actively participate in the Performance Review and Development Plan process

*Demonstrate an awareness of and commitment to safe working practices

*Be actively involved in quality programs.

*Maintain the confidentiality of client/patient and relevant health service business at all times.

*Be familiar with the contents of the Appropriate Conduct Guidelines and observe the provisions.

*Undertake any other duties as required.
