How to Register as Pharmacist in Australia
To work in Australia you need to be registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (PBA)
Validating Qualifications Obtained Outside Australia
If you have gained your qualification outside of Australia you will need to contact the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC), they are the authority that accredits pharmacy education and training in Australia and New Zealand on behalf of the Pharmacy Board of Australia (PBA) and the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand (PCNZ). They maintain the high standards of pharmacy education and assess the competency of Australian intern and overseas pharmacists as part of their role to protect the public. This is to ensure pharmacists have the skills and knowledge to deliver effective health care that meets the changing needs of the community.
It’s APC’s role to assess the competency of overseas-trained pharmacists. APC ensures that fully-trained pharmacists from overseas who want to work in Australia meet our standards in Pharmacy.
As you are an overseas trained pharmacist who wants to register and work as a pharmacist in Australia, you must successfully complete an APC Skills Assessment before you can apply to the Pharmacy Board of Australia (PBA) for registration.
Your personal circumstances will determine which APC Skills Assessment is right for you. Please refer to the information in this link: https://www.pharmacycouncil.org.au/our-services/assessments/ You may also be required to complete an internship for a period of up to 12 months.
